ANRD launches a new initiative to support inclusive and sustainable rural development in Albania

Rural communities across Albania continue to face significant economic, social, and demographic challenges. To help address these challenges and create new opportunities for local development, ANRD is launching the project “Supporting Inclusive and Sustainable Rural Development in Albania”.

The project will be implemented during the period 2026-2028 and seeks to contribute to improving the quality of life and economic opportunities in rural areas through strengthened inclusive governance, local food systems, and gender equality.

At the heart of the intervention is the strengthening of ANRD and its member organizations to provide better services to rural communities, represent their interests more effectively, and contribute to policy-making processes through evidence-based advocacy.

Particular attention will be given to:

  • Strengthening collaboration among local stakeholders through regional platforms, Local Action Groups, and other forms of collective action;
  • Promoting more sustainable and inclusive local food systems;
  • Supporting initiatives that create better economic opportunities for farmers and rural producers;
  • Advancing gender equality and strengthening women’s participation in decision-making and development processes.

Through this project, ANRD aims to contribute to building stronger, better-organized rural communities that are more capable of shaping their own development, in line with Albania’s rural development priorities and the country’s European integration agenda.

The project is supported by We Effect, a Swedish development organization dedicated to empowering rural communities. Through its work, We Effect promotes gender equality, sustainable rural development, financial inclusion, and resilience to environmental and climate-related challenges.

STRONGER RURAL COMMUNITIES. SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS. EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES.
